Right from the first days, we’ve been amazed by Texas and its wildlife. Luxurious green parks and never seen before animals are now everyday business for us. Soon after arriving, I opted for the shock treatment: a trip to Beaumont to see the Gator Country!

What I didn’t expect at that time, was to have a much richer and more beautiful environment, right at our doorstep: the Armand Bayou. This Natural reserve, unlike the parks of the like of Beaumont, is 100% natural, meaning that gators and their wild friends are in their own habitat, they are not fed by humans and are free to roam, stay, or go as they like. It’s like a zoo and a safari: we definitely prefer the bayou.
The Cardinal is the symbol (or A symbol) of South Carolina and was a beautiful and cheerful friend who lived in our garden at home!

After a while, our habits changed: while in Italy we used to leave some food for the cats that used to be in our neighborhood, in Houston the evening appointment was with raccoons or other friends.

Another major impact was coping with Melinda and Augustina’s change of behavior. They did not react too well to the presence of predators near our house, so we bought two GPS for them and let them outdoors mainly when supervised by us. But Melinda’s reaction was unexpected and started an argument with a home cat sitting on the window of our neighbor. It soon became a nightmare: check out the video at the bottom…
